Religious Education for Children (P.R.E.P.)
Our Lady of Peace Church serves a diverse community. As such, we respect and celebrate one another’s similarities and differences. The most important similarity is our love and respect for our Lord Jesus Christ.
Our Religious Education Program has many benefits. The most evident reason is preparation to receive the Sacraments. What happens after you receive the Holy Spirit during confirmation? That is not the end of your religious education. It is the beginning of your child’s journey as a fully initiated member of the Church. P.R.E.P. provides vital moral and religious formation for students and their families. In an ever changing world, students learn to live by their faith, not turn to God and Jesus only in times of crisis. This program will help forge a strong life-long relationship with God.
We provide a rigorous, high quality curricula. The curriculum is the Faith & Life Book Series. This series was carefully selected with the needs of your 21st Century Child in mind. It is a whole child, educationally sound curriculum which engages students’ minds, emotions, and creativity, while the discussions encourage real world applications of Gospel principles. This combination will lead students to become disciples of Christ.
At our Parish, religious education is a family affair. To continue to reinforce the importance of Faith and Family, the monthly PREP MASS will continue on the first Sunday of every month. This Mass is special because it’s dedicated to our religious education students and their families. This also provides an opportunity for the community; the children and their friends and families worship together.
This is a very exciting time for our P.R.E.P. Program. We are adding more family activities and theme days to our calendar. Once a student is confirmed, they are invited to join the youth group to continue to bond, spend time with, and grow in a diverse yet like-minded group of Catholic young adults.
Registration is now closed. Please contact the Religious Education Office at 732-738-7940 ext. 27 if you have any questions.
